U2. They are one of my favorite bands. They have made lots of good songs and they are from Dublin. That is in Ireland for those of you who don’t know where Dublin is. Their songs though are about things going on today. Like their song “The Saints are coming” featuring Green Day, is about Hurricane Katrina. The song “Sunday Bloody Sunday” was written because of two bloody incidents in Ireland. The first was in 1920 when a group of British soldiers fired into a crown during a football match in Dublin because somebody killed British undercover agents and the British got mad. The second incident and the one more pertaining to the song happened on January 30, 1972 when British Paratroopers (surprised it’s the Brits?) killed 13 Irish civilians because they wee at a civil rights protest in Derry Northern Ireland. They also have a song called “Pride” (also called “In the Name of Love”) which talks about people who have died throughout history because the believed and preached about the equality of men. And it definitely talks about MLK in the last few verses. Another song called “Beautiful Day” was written about a man who looses his Earthly possessions and becomes happier as he realizes the meaning of life.

One hit Wonders and other Wonders
One of the Few Millions of OHW (one hot wonders) is Eric Johnston’s Cliffs of Dover. That song like a few other awesome songs has no lyrics in it. You know why, because it does not need any lyrics in it for it to be good. Another OHW was Blind Melon’s song No Rain. Very beautiful song, not very fast but not too slow, very good. You know what, maybe you should go and listen to them both right now, or maybe you van wait until you are done reading what I am typing. Another OHW is the Verve’s Bittersweet Symphony. Besides the songs name being an Oxymoron it is a very good song, but unfortunately the band got sued because they stole something from another band’s song and the other band got really pissed and the Verve is not around anymore. Sad story right. First time I heard it I almost cried. But there are a few songs that came from bands but they weren’t they bands only wonders. For Example- Kansas, the band not the state, made a song Called Carry on my Wayward Son, which hopefully all of you have heard. They also made another song called Dust in the Wind.
Journey & Aerosmith
Journey. Everybody has heard the song Don’t Stop Beleivin’ Right? I you haven’t then you have no life and are absent minded to another great rock band. And song. In the beginning of Journey they had a lead singer who really wasn’t all that good. Then Steve Perry signed on with journey, and he rocked the world. They made songs like Don’t Stop Beleivin’, wheel in the Sky, Any way you want it, and many more. I have seen some bands rock the world but only a few like Journey. They are so famous that they are still making Records.
Aerosmith is one of those bands that are just like Journey. And, yes Adrian like Rush. Beside Steven Tyler getting addicted to Cocaine, he is another one of those vocalist that re just great. Even though some might think that he does not sound good, well he does and still is sounding good. They have made some pretty good songs like Rag Doll, Kings and Queens, Dream On, Love in an Elevator, Dude Looks like a Lady, Same old song, Seasons of Wither, Sweet Emotion , Walk this Way, Walk this Way ft. Run DMC, and hundreds more. And guess what the good news is? They are still making songs today.
Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin is another one of those awesome bands. The lead singer is Robert Plant. The guitarist is Jimmy Page, who inspired Alex Lifeson from Rush to be a singer. The bassist is John Paul Jones. And the drummer is John "Bonzo" Bonaham. At the beginning it was Jimmy Page who was in a band before Led Zeppelin formed, called the Yardbirds. But they weren't very popular.by the way all of these guys are English, as in from England. And they weren’t very popular in England but they were very popular in America. So eventually Page left the Yardbirds and formed a band with Jones, Bonham, and Plant. But they couldn’t think of a name. You want to know who gave them the idea for their name. Why none other than Keith Moon from the Who. They were talking about the new band that at first was called the New Yardbirds. And they were planning on having a big concert. And Keith Moon said that –“this is gonna go down like a lead zeppelin.” So all Page did was take out the “a” and he had a new band name-Led Zeppelin. When they first started out in England they weren’t that popular. But when they hit America- BAM!!! They became super stars. And everything was great. Until Bonzo died from overdose of Alcohol.
Rush
Rush is Awesome. If you have ever been to a rush concerts then you know what I am talking about. But for those of you who don’t know what I am talking about than I am sorry and will try to fill you in. The Bassist is Giddy Lee. By the way he is Canadian. His real name is actually Gary Lee Weinrib and he was born on July 29, 1953. He is Bassist/ Bass guitar. By the way it is pronounced Base like in baseball not bass as in the fish. He is also the lead vocalist as well as the keyboardist.
The next person on our list is Alex Lifeson. His actual name is Alexander Zivojinovich. He is the main Guitarist of the band. Lifeson was born on August 27, 1953 in British Colombia, Canada.
The people that influenced him to play are Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck ,Jimi Hendrix, and Jimmy Page. If you do not know who these people are them I am sorry. Because you are oblivious to some other Rock and Roll legends but oh well.
The last person in the trio of awesomeness is Neil Peart. Neil was born Neil Ellwood Peart on September 12, 1952 in Ontario, Canada. He is the Drum Player and he has a friggin huge drum set.
He started drumming at the age of 13 and received professional drum lessons for his birthday. Keith moon, who was the drummer for the Who, inspired him to be a drummer, as well as Carl Palmer and Bill Bruford. And it is Neil Peart who has inspired me to be a drummer.
